The shockwave treatment is a safe and noninvasive therapy. It is indicated in many diseases of the musculoskeletal system, such as chronic tendinopathies, calcifications, plantar fasciitis (with or without spur), epicondilopathies, painful syndromes, nonunions (when a broken bone fails to heal)... among others.
The shock waves are mechanical stimuli that produce pressure changes in tissues and, through a physiological principle called “mechano-transduction”, they trigger various biological responses:
Its effectiveness can avoid surgery and the risk that they entail, allowing an earlier recovery.
Shock waves can be generated from various technologies. In our center we have 4 state of the art equipment (focal and radial).
Antonio Morral is a pioneer (1999) in implementing radial shockwaves in tendon pathologies, he is a founding member of the Spanish Shockwave Therapies Society (SETOC), member of the International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment (ISMST) and Regional Vice President of the Iberoamerican Federation of Shockwave Societies in Europe (ONLAT).
